A draft will be organised for each age group that allows the best young players on the Sunshine Coast to put their names forward to be selected by the Barossa Crushers.
A talent scout will help make selections; they are sourced exclusively on their knowledge of the junior cricket landscape. Much like the AFL draft, a lottery determines the order in which owners get their selections. First drawn, first selection and so on.
The APL will host the Junior Draft Day. This will be a family-friendly event that will be live streamed. Once teams have been allocated and profile pictures have been taken, all junior members will sign their very own mock APL contract; a moment that makes the event feel like part of the professional experience.
The tournament is a new and emerging platform to compete and grow your cricket skills in the modern game.
The tournament will be played in the spring as a preseason, so it does not clash with any existing Queensland Cricket competitions. It will provide players with an opportunity to mix with new teammates and have a good hit-out leading into their season.
The Seniors and U19’s competition will run over four to five Sundays in August. The finals day will be played on a Sunday at a premier ground, before all club cricket begins, to ensure families and friends can attend. Games will be live-streamed each round.
